How to wrap your presents in Furoshiki (cloth) to avoid using wrapping paper. Unlike wrapping paper (which usually can't be recycled) Furoshiki can be used again and again.

  • Would be very cool to include a little pamphlet on how to do furoshiki with the gift so that the person knows how to properly recycle and reuse their gift wrap. Kind of like paying it forward vis a vis furoshiki

  • This is an excellent as well as classy way of presenting a hostess gift of wine, oil, lotion, etc. As for the negative comments, well just scratch that up to obvious lack of class.

Very impressive and thank you for taking the time to teach us such a useful art of furoshiki.

  • God damnit Japan give someone else a chance!

  • so easy and beautiful ..and most of all..so useful

    thanks for sharing..

    i love Japan

  • @takapitcha I made no mention of myself being classy, firstly. Secondly, it's two songs. Merely songs, and completely unrelated to my ideals or beliefs, and frankly, irrelevant to my own comment.

  • Good idea for hostess or birthday gifts... Not so much Christmas in my opinion. Half of the fun Christmas morning is tearing off the wrapping paper, its always been the best part in my family. And Lush makes something almost exactly like this called knot wraps, very interesting~ Happy Holidays everyone! :)

  • @VulgarSleazoid ...but your screen name just SCREAMS "class,"

  • @Chill050 Well, its not NASCAR wrapping paper so I can see why you hate it. (tongue in cheek) Furoshiki is amazing!

  • @VulgarSleazoid i agree, it is tacky, and you wrap things in wrapping paper, not cloth

  • @55fumufumu Really? You don't think that the Ancient Chinese, Egyptians, or Mesopotamians figured out that you can carry things around in a square piece of cloth?
