If you're still not getting satisfactory performance out of your linux audio software, despite JACK being set up properly, CPU scaling might solve some (or all) of your performance issues.
This is especially true for underpowered systems and laptops, including netbooks and slim-and-light computers.
The Performance setting for linux's CPU scaling governor really ramps up your processor's performance, though it will do so at the cost of battery life!
Don't forget to watch in 720p HD.
@AutoStatic3000 Agreed; this would be why I recommend to only change permissions on the cpu_scaling file itself, and not recursively on entire directories.

Hello, changing permissions on stuff in the /sys directory so normal users can modify settings is not the way to go IMHO.
