An instrumental version of Roger Waters' song, "Goodbye Blue Sky" from Pink Floyd's "The Wall" performed by Robert Harsch on a Kaman Applause AA-40, 4-string short scale acoustic bass guitar The bass is strung with bronze round-wound strings, in "Drop-D" tuning: D-A-D-G. It is the same bass in the photos.
For recording I used 2 condenser mics, blended with a Dean Markley soundhole pickup passed thru a Line6 BassPod modeling processor (slightly altered "Variax Jazz Upright" patch w/ Chorus Modulation).
The video is kind of stream-of-consciousness, starting with shots from a visit to Hawaii in February 2008 for the annual meeting of the Western Conference of the American Federation of Musicians. The airplane(s) & dove are direct tributes to Roger Waters & Gerald Scarfe's original visuals. The shots from Diamondhead's military lookout, as well as the song's lyrical themes, launched me to war memorials, monuments & the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.
Another Hawaiian interlude with a statue honoring a great man of Peace, then a tie-in to my Dad at the Veterans Memorial in Ashley, North Dakota, and finally, a guest appearance from Kitty Cosette: "Slap that bass, Cat!"

- Oahu, Hawaii (Feb, 2008): Diamondhead, Waikiki, Honolulu Zoo, Old Pali Road, AFM Local 677
- Washington, DC (Early 2002): National Cathedral, Vietnam Wall, Korean Vets' Memorial, FDR Memorial, Lincoln memorial, Washington Monument
- Ashley, ND: American Legion Veterans Memorial (May 2002)
- Flathead Lake & Missoula, MT (2000-01)

Special Thanks:
- My father, Adolph Harsch & his brother, Gottfried. Gottfried served in WWII, came home and lived until cancer claimed him in 1991. Incidentally, "Gottfried" is German for "Peace of God". My Uncle Gottfried always seemed to me to be one of the most gentle people I've known.
- My friend, Skip Kahane: if I know anything about playing bass, Skip taught it to me. Skip served in Viet Nam, as did his friend, Byrle B. Bailey, who didn't make it back.
