Thanks for you reply - though it´s been a week ....yes - she was very, very good... She´s still alive - she´s over 80 years old now..I haven´t been listening to jazz that much - but some of the stuff she did in the sixties with the trio SweDanes is just so wonderful. They are singing all the instruments - just playing - having fun....

@Mokch64 hey, thnx. carole king is my favorite composer too. and alice babs version of this is so excellent. i like this kind of jazz when they stick to the original melody, like she does here. its just so great. if she sang with ellington, she must have been a pretty big deal. i cant believe i never even heard her name before. shes my new favorite swede, after bibi andersson and max von sydow, of course.

@bobbyb826 Check out Duke Ellington & Alice Babs - Almighty God from 1969 in a Swedish Church....and Swe-Danes which was a trio she was part of in the late 50´s to early 60´s. Carole King is my alltime favourite composer - and was I surprised to hear that it was THIS "Back to Canaan" she is singing here!!! ps/ I was born in the same city as Alice Babs!!! - Kalmar, Sweden... She is one of our most famous and best singer of all time.
