Robbie Williams (born Robert Peter Williams on February 13, 1974 in Stoke-on-Trent) is a Grammy Award-nominated, 10 time BRIT Award-winning English singer-songwriter. His career started as a member of the pop band Take That in 1990, which he left in 1995 to begin his solo career.
Robbie Williams as a solo artist has sold more albums in the United Kingdom than any other British solo artist in history and has won more BRITs than any other artist to date. His record-sales stands at over 55 million worldwide.
Williams entered in the 'The Guinness Book of World Records' when he announced his World Tour for 2006, selling 1.6 million tickets in one single day. He has been the recipient of many awards, including ten BRIT and six ECHO awards. In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame, after being voted as the Greatest artist of the 1990's.
He appears in the list of the all-time Top 100 biggest selling albums in the United Kingdom six times. It is also estimated he is currently the best selling non-Latino artist in Latin America at the moment with over 3 million sold.
Rudebox is the name of Robbie Williams's seventh studio album (10th overall), released on October 23, 2006 in the UK. The album features collaborations with William Orbit, Mark Ronson, Soul Melanik and two collaborations with the Pet Shop Boys: "She's Madonna" and "We're the Pet Shop Boys".
The Actor is an ode to actors, or rather how annoying they can be. Robbie sings about how irresistible actors can be, even if theyre bad, while a woman spouts acting clichés (all I have is my instinct). Then Robbie raps off a bunch of actors names, reminiscent of Madonnas Vogue, a list that includes Madonna Ritchie sandwiched between Judi Dench and Meryl Streep, which sounds like a slap, despite the ode a few tracks back. Fickle, isnt he? I love how it ends: Joaquin..Joaquin..Joaquin, Joaquin, Joaquin, Joaquin, SWANK!
