Six part series taking an in-depth look at the rare Johnson Millenium JM-150 modelling amplifier and it's features, sounds, and programming.

The mission when this product was brilliantly engineered at Johnson Amplification was to provide the actual sound characteristics of dozens of classic amplifiers using internal "models" that are emulated via strict parameters, electronics, analog, and digital design. Essentially owning this amplifier gives you the versatility of owning over $200,000 in classic amplifiers, and probably another $250,000 in studio-quality rack effects. There has not been a product manufactured before or since that achieved the true claim of "modelling amplifier" in one complete & thorough package like the Johnson Millenium.

Part 6 features a studio recording of a guitar instrumental song using the Johnson Millenium exclusively for ALL TRACKS except the drums.

Johnson Amplification was a subsidiary of Digitech Electronics and was active from roughly 1996 to 2002. Their website is still alive today, although left dormant with no changes for over a decade.

  • Thanks a lot for the videos, but the treble and reverb are very painful.

  • @realkman666 It's a really big room - bright and airy

  • i had the amp and i loved it, played lots of gigs with it, i had great tones that i made, i owned for nearly 10 years been thru so many midi chords for the J12, but I started to have problems with the amp, mainly with the J12, I sold it cus I needed the cash to move, I now own a fender mustang III, but over all the Johnson is a great amp I regret for selling it. But like I said It started to cut out on me not sure if it was the pedal or the amp.

  • @markorfi: Wrong. I have owned my JM-150 since 2001. I play it every week. No problems with the encoders. Like any other amp or mechanical device, it all depends on the way you treat it and the maintenance you do to it, that will determine how well it will perform in the long term.

  • Also the encoders are of poor quality and WILL be skipping , locking up by now..

  • Problem is who would use an Eventide in the Mono FX loop? ...this is the downfall of the Johnson Millenium, that stupid mono FX loop !

  • My Digitech has that same silent feature to

  • This is great, Johnson had some good amps, I have the Blueline 50w I think? 1x12" - It sounds nice, but I have a BOSS ME-70 running through it.

  • @shyrockstar There's one on sale on kijiji.ca Montreal 400$ Canadian. Head version 250w. Maybe he ships?
