Our group defines Globalization as the act of bringing the cultures around the world closer together through advances in technology that allow communication, trade and individuals to interact faster and more efficiently. By the invention of Smartphones; phones which combine internet, with PC capabilities, and the standard abilities of phones; people all over the world can stay connected. These new devices have come to serve many greater purposes than their original thought. For the people in developing countries who cannot afford the luxury of a standard computer, their phones become their only tool of communication. This gives the people of these countries the capability to connect with other people on the opposite side of the globe. In our documentary we reveal the necessity that these Smartphones have become all over the world. Even here in America it is expected for someone to have internet capabilities on their phone to send and receive emails while away from a computer. This has led to the many social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter that are now available directly on our Smartphones. Phones such as the RIM Blackberry and the Apple iPhone have applications for just that purpose, along with many other applications for use in everyday life. This may seem like a luxury to some but for most it is worth the cost. We have become a generation where we are able to access the internet at any given time, anywhere around the world. Thomas Friedman describes this constantly connected world as The Evernet, the world in which we are constantly online and always connected to the internet. This Evernet world is closer than we may think, and is beginning to become a reality through Smartphones. How could life get any better? The answer Smartphones; the current and future of mobile technology.
