I love it when American entertainers sh*t on all their American fans as soon as they arrive in Europe! HAHA! @gl797 - Thinking about it, there IS another Athens, GA based group that I'd place higher on the scale, and that's R.E.M. IMHO, they're a bit more lyrically, acoustically and instrumentally rich...
Outside of Athens, there are a plethora of groups closer in caliber, Tears For Fears comes to mind.
