one of the most under rated musicians, singer-songwriters. It shocks me he is not in the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame. So many there who are no where near his talent--a class of his own, for sure.

My husband was dying from cancer. We had a hospice nurse by the name of Anastasia. I never knew her last name until the last few days of Phil's life. We were big Dan fans. During Phil's illness, I would listen to the song Anastasia's Eyes and cry from the words and how I would relate them to my love for my husband. She told me 2 days before Phil died she was Anastasia Savage and we talked about Dan. This was in 2003. I always wished Phil could have known who the angel by his side was .

Around 3:33, not performing but recording in a studio, Dan does one of many things that moves me so, but this moreso than others ~ he closes his eyes, like he is literally sinking into his music. I know I can put on headphones to shut out anything or anyone & seemingly go to another place listening to Dan. I know others......

Thank you for your condolences. Anastasia spoke very fondly of him. As the song portrayed, she told me she met him during a very emotionally difficult time in his life. She tried to help him and I guess things were good for awhile, but eventually it became apparent to her that she was not what he needed. I don't know details, but I will say, her eyes lit up when I mentioned that Phil's and my song was a Dan Fogelberg song. That was when she told me who she was.

just saw your post from 11 months ago about Dan's ex-wife Anastasia being your husbands hospice nurse. First off-my condolencses for your loss, so sad... I have always wondered why Dan and Anastasia broke up. Did she talkof Dan fondly? I understand they never spoke after the split.

pre10der, thank you. I have no idea how you came up with all that you have posted and shared of Dan but want you to know how much each and every one of them mean to me. They are wonderful - like opening a present each time I go to a next one from you.

I "grew up" with Dan Fogelberg's music. He was a "gift" to me, now carefully wrapped in his music and kept to cherish always.......

Dan was married 3 times.Married to Maggie Parker in the 80's,Anastasia Savage in the 90's and Jean Mayer in 2002. They all have in common,that they all were in a long relationship with Dan before marriage. No children!
