LJBSasha, unfortunately, tears would be in my eyes from boredome and yawning when learning the Variations.
(China prohibits access to Youtube and Facebook. [You get an error message.] I had planned on posting daily entries in my Facebook account. I just retuned form China.)
[As it was, before that catastrophe happened over 5 years ago, I was already over ¼-of the way through that work in terms of understanding it (never having heard any recordings or performances thereof!).]
The recording-level on this YouTube clip series is a bit low, as if the mikes were placed too far away. Otherwise, very nice indeed - will now need to look up the organ-specs if possible!
@robertgift: I fully empathise with your feelings about the piece's difficulty (very hard indeed!!!), but not in terms of boredom! Far from it: I find Reger generally - and especially this piece - very interesting and even moving! Once I regain my practise-privileges at the only organ in this area that can handle this music, I'm looking forward to resuming my efforts to learn this work - it has some lovely harmonic and thematic working-out!! In fact, Reger is underrated as a composer!!

Best wishes with your goal.

Rather than show the cover for 9 minutes, why not show the music page by page so we can follow along?
Fugue begins at 3:46.
I started to learn this work, but became too bored. Also very difficult.
