Fritz Kreisler's father was Jewish, his mother Catholic. Fritz was baptised.

Kreisler means potter (Kreis means circle, referring to the potter's wheel)

In which way, the region Kreisler originates from was "occupied" by the Germans and Russians?

Galitziana refers to a Jewish area from the south-eastern region of the Eastern-European Yiddish speaking world. The name originated as the Yiddish term referring to Galicia, part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in modern-day Poland and Ukraine.
