took a while to reply sorry but quote from wiki "Waits put together a regular touring band, The Nocturnal Emissions, which featured Frank Vicari on tenor saxophone, Fitzgerald Jenkins on bass, and Chip White on drums and vibraphone."

Seems to sound like a horn...sax...diggin' in. The man needs the friction, or it's just too easy, and not soulful enough. I'm there. Check out One From The Heart soundtrack, the reissue with the extra songs at the end like Empty Pockets. Stunning album, and the smoothest Tom ever. There's a black and white Heart Attack and Vine on you tube that's just thrilling. (Waits, of course)
