Animation that answers the age old question, "what would it have been like if Batman was adapted into a gritty crime/action movie by the Italian film industry in the 1970s?"

Animation and Direction by Chad Kaplan.

Based on the DC Comics characters.

Soundbytes appropriated from various English dubbed versions of Italian genre flicks. No copyright infringement intended. Music by Stelvio Cipriani, Ennio Morricone, and Giampaolo Chiti.

Special thanks to David Lambert for inadvertently helping to spawn the idea with his BATMAN BEGINS review in 2005.

Riassunto: Trailer per la parodia poliziotteschi a tema animato "il cinico, il pipistrello, e il pugno."

  • Fantastic! Love it. Who and from which film is 'The Jokers' dialogue from?

  • @jonnys8sumthin Thanks. The Joker's dialogue is from THE GREAT SILENCE spoken by whoever dubbed Klaus Kinski in English.

  • Damnit Chad! Batman can't shoot people. He hates guns even more than he hates crime.

    Good stuff though.

  • @Squidalert Haha, thanks. For the record though Batman used guns and killed a few times in his early appearances and even carried a gun in a shoulder holster in "Batman Year Two". Regardless of the character's history, this is a different take on Batman. Sort of Paul Kersey in a bat costume. The video was meant to be a parody/pastiche combing Batman with 70s Italian crime films and Italian comic book "anti-hero" films like Diabolik and Kriminal. Therefore, making Batman a killer vigilante fit.

  • @Squidalert: Yeah, "gentle Batman" was really a Comics Code thing. When Detective Comics first started out, he not only killed criminals, he didn't seem to give a flip about it. No mercy, no remorse. He seemed to have a conscience, but it didn't apply to lawbreakers. He apparently didn't see them as human. He didn't even see them as animals. They were more like rubber ducks in a shooting gallery, or video game characters or something.
