I've listened to the peter gabriel version of this song and yes it is a very nice way for him to sing this song, but no one can beat this kind of love for music as the man who sings this song. you can hear it when he is singing and even when he is silent during this song you can hear the emotion he put into this song.

When you have a disabling disease or illness, this song really hits home. Randomly bed-ridden for weeks or even months at a time (for almost ten years now), the physical limitation of FMS isn't the hardest part...it's the lack of compassion that really hurts. I have become a recluse out of necessity...not by choice. There is no cure for me, or even long term relief...thus no hope for "recovery". My body feels like a cage. Just how it is...

it feels like at the end as though the narrator is begging the one who loves him to let him go..to set his mind and spirit free from her. Maybe he feels its her fault that he cant let go, This song is very disturbing for me. Very spiritual. and makes me sad and guilty. I suppose its possible for two spirts to be lost.. knowing one another and longing for the other yet always missing one another...im not sure i suppose ill have to listen more than once.
