  • Watch the generalizations. Gospel bassists do more than groove. Alot of them know theory but you play what the song calls for. Not everyone needs to play as busy as Jaco. And do some more listening. Over half of Marcus Miller's career was just "grooving" behind other artists before he did his solo stuff.

  • Pocket!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's what get's you paid!! you don't have to be fancy . just groove!!!

  • GREAT! that brother got the groove like a muthafucka!

  • @DrCrazyRiffs yeah I would. to set it up! nothin against runs or what not..but people cant dance to that! nor understand all of it. simplicity "in my opinion" is what makes people dance...I mean you could take a the smallest run.. and depending on where you place it... it could sound sooo huge! placement and creativity is key!

  • @franklinperedo

    Yeah, it's a Brubaker.

  • I believe thats a brubaker if im not mistaken... can anyone confirm this please?

  • I believe you

  • good opinion. A lot of people will get offended by what you have said but I hear you. But....generally gospel musicians do play what they are paid to play not overplay. In the "church" most organist will look at you crazy if you get loose. But....I have seen Mo display every facet of theory and he's got it. He's well rounded and one of the best in the industry!

  • Theres a bass run that he does on Fred hammonds Pages of life live dvd, so sick. Its right were they go into the song, "NO WAY". I hooked up with Mo on a tour in Bermuda playin for Donnie McKlurkin. Mo's real cool. Also on that live dvd check out, I want my destiny. Mo rips it so lovely on that set.

  • What kinda bass is that??????????/

  • Maurice is the man! A solo is based on what that individual is feeling and wants to express not based on what the audience is thinking. Maurice gets all the work. Gospel bassists have to know it all and usually do from fusion to classical. Just look at Reese, Sharay, Darrell Freeman, Gouche, Joel S., Reggie Young, Donald Alford etc. Even Tony Russel has played with Marcus miller.

  • all the way back from john p kee this dude been my favorite
