Ninja Gaiden 2 / II - The Dark Sword of Chaos (by Tecmo, for the Nintendo Entertainment System platform) - Deathless speed run - Part 1. Performed by Daniel T (aka DTysonator) on a real NES home console, recorded on VHS, and digitally produced by "cyriades".

The classic Ninja Gaiden series by Tecmo began as an arcade beatemup released in 1988 (which was also known as Ninja Ryukenden in Japan, and Shadow Warriors in Europe).

Daniel T's own description of this quick playthrough -

"Three Ninjas are better than one: Deathless speed run"

  • @jfliguy I was almost with you until the last sentence. Care to explain a bit further? The NES paved the way for SNES, arguably one of the best systems in history besides Genesis and Neo Geo.

  • @shincyriades I guess what I meant by 70% of the games was how majority of the games were garbage. I mean there are a lot of can't miss games but then there are games that you are like are you kidding me. You waisted over 50 dollars on a game that was pure trash.

  • @jfliguy Ah - can't argue your point itself, even if I'd personally say around 50% garbage, tops, as far as the licensed games go. Having a lot of trash games is sadly that's a problem that arguably plagues all systems or most of them anyway. I remember back in the day when Nintendo was working on that SNES CD addon, and one of the Nintendo gameplay counselors said there would never be dumb games again because of the power it would have. Oh boy, was that a wrong statement, haha.

  • @shincyriades One game that set me off the most is the Karate Kid, Festers Quest, and as much as I love Ninja Gaiden series they piss me off. I can not stand it how games where a little bird can knock you back and take off majority of your energy. Make it so hard to go thru. I love the NES era. It did change the gaming world, but lets be real. It made life difficult for everyone. From games, to difficulty. I hated it. My opinion and my opinion alone

  • @jfliguy Fair enough. A lot of games were indeed incredibly difficult. Sometimes it was a result of bad design - Karate Kid and Fester's Quest, as you mentioned, suffered from that. Other times it was just about right, with well done gameplay mechanics - Kickmaster, the Mega Man series (generally), Crystalis, etc.

  • one of the BEST games of ALL times...where are the GOOD games like this one???? it's all about gfx nowadays...btw, great run, you are truly the chosen one for this game.

  • the 8:23 marker was sick. just all kinds of madness going on.

  • i mean an nes isnt worth a ps2 in my opinion

  • @CHUDscarecrow get a pc controller and download an emulater and the roms. You'll still have a ps2...and a ps2 isnt worth an nes anyway...i found an nes at some fleamarket with 15 games for 40 bucks the dude hooked it up and showed me it worked and everything, then a week later i found ninja gaiden 1 and 2 at an eb games and i give like 5 bucks for the two of those...but you probably already traded it...and about the roms its all your choice some people prefer the whole system but it dont matter

  • @jfliguy I get your point but games back in the day were difficult and thats what made gamers true hardcore gamers. Nowadays there's checkpoints, saves every 5 minutes, and a ton of other things to make it easier to beat. NES days you had to be good to beat games not like today where you can reload at a checkpoint til you beat that part. I understand your point though this is just my opinion.

  • Hi, please don't take this the wrong way, but are you human-being?

  • I'm trading my ps2 and all it's games in today to get this game and some other nes games. Who would've thought that in 2011 I'd regret giving my nes and snes away.

  • love this game tecmo did a good job

i dont know about rygar though

  • The one and true Ninja Ryuukenden. I can proudly say that I actually beat these games when I was a kid (yes all three). I have......
