  • The transition from Saturday to Sunday in this track is mind-blowing, particularly in Moncur's solo. Williams' solo is so creative is astonishes me every time, never mind the fact he was a 17 year old kid. I really think Jackie deserves a lot of credit for the development of what I would term freebop, which the Miles Davis group with Tony would go on to be the most celebrated exponent of. This group reach a nirvana that very few others achieved and it's a shame they couldn't record more!
