http://www.ted.com Onstage at TED2012, Peter Diamandis makes a case for optimism -- that we'll invent, innovate and create ways to solve the challenges that loom over us. "I'm not saying we don't have our set of problems; we surely do. But ultimately, we knock them down."
TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate

Resource based economy maybe? Check out The venus project, founder is a man called jacque fresco, check out his books - designing the future by jacque fresco, and the best money can't buy beyond politics, poverty, and war.

Well for starters I don't see why such language is necessary. Secondly - if you think you have choice about what you do, then you're deluded. It's legal slavery - you have to work, you have to make money in order to do anything. If you weren't a slave, you'd be able to live in another fashion. Btw, just because I live within the system does not mean I cannot critique it - that's the kind of crutch politicians rest on.

This guy is Ray Kurzweil without the lack of enthusiasm. I agree with what he says, the world is always getting better but somehow humanity always thinks it's getting worse.

yes, it's so many great freethinker and futurists in the public eye to be inspired by, and that we all have the ability to be those as well, get our voice out, and know we have the power of our human minds. I suggest to you Also people like Jacque Fresco, Gabor Mate, Federico Pistono, Daniel H Pink, and definitely a book called "The first Civilization" by Jas Garcha.

Come on, None of us wanna be too fatalistic about these things, but I can see what you mean, although I love his focus on positivity, he doesn't go over vast amount of social imbalance and mental detriment that still exist on a massive scale, and the power structure deterrents that help slow our grand possibility at this globally sustainable future, so easily possible. Then again he only has so much time. Still great talk, the education we all need.

This is more of the aware education we need on a global scale, at least the majority, and connects right into The Zeitgeist Movement and Venus Project, the main groups promoting this aware information and it's need to simply be common knowledge. At this point. It's always hard to see people try to debate or deny this in grand scope, but then again I've been following this info for years, it takes time for newcomers, especially the indoctrinated and uneducated.

Think about it. A future where automation will allow a tiny percentage of the entire human population to produce everything everyone might need to live a healthy and happy life.
This will free us to pursue things such as philosophy, art and science without the burdens and drudgery of employment.

Why is it that our greatest accomplishments as mankind revolve around waging war? Wouldn't with the rise of technology the ability to wage war go hand to hand?
