@BJ151 I suppose when you put it that way you have a point. But that's only in the presupposition that this God actually exists. I can say just as easily that we all came here through the material evolution that we did and that we are not looking for the answers because their more rewarding. But because there is no god that will spell it out for us. Let me ask you something out of all the gods that have existed in which all have similar tales including yours. How can you be so sure the God of
@BJ151 But the question why Jesus used a lot of parables is a similar question. Parables are a good way to teach people who really want to know the answer of the parable. Parables are easy to remember and people go through a process finding the answer, which makes the answer more rewarding, than just spelling everything out to someone.
@BJ151 important things are written clearly:the gospel, 10 commandments, characteristics of God: loving, righteous, holy,.. Many Jesus said are also clear: love God above all things and love your neighbours like you love yourself, pray for your enemies, give to the poor, etc. Interpretation is more of an issue when it comes to things that are hard for us to understand. Like the prophecies in revelation.
@GeniusAtheist Indeed, but in their context it was normal. Now, we know more, so we can describe more, but it doesn't disprove God. If God made everything, then you would expect it to be made out of something and that it would be under laws etc. That's what science does: examining things that can be seen/measured to see what it consists of and which laws have an effect on it. If God exists, then he made those laws/things, which makes understanding him Very hard:p Also the most...
@BJ151 But taking a look at the background of science everything man thought to be supernatural turned out to be unknown natural events that we now know. Not in technical terms but in logical terms it kinda disproves the God hypothesis and if God knew how the human mind interprets beliefs why would he spend so much time giving unclear information and faith requirements along with the so many different interperatations of the bible why not one clear book that can be understood by all people
@BJ151 .. a belief system would be a loving way of people to look for Him and to get to know Him. No pressure, it depends on us, wether we check if the info is reliable, what are the characteristics of Him etc, because I don't expect you to naïvely believe me. ("it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe" 1 Corinthians 1:21b)
@GeniusAtheist sry for my late reply. In very short: yes, since science will have a very hard time proving Gods existence (not observable/measurable). Psychology copes with the same problems, but then you're dealing with humans, which makes it alot easier. Believing implies a system where you have to look wether it's true or not. Factors like the characteristics of the info,info giver and if it's about a third party, the characteristics of that thing/person aswell. If God exists, He knew that..
@GeniusAtheist The God of the bibles existence would only answer hard why questions, science will still need to focus on the how questions. Exploring the beauty of the universe is relevant wether God exists or not. If He exists he wants us to know him personally, because if his existance is a scientific fact, a choice to believe in him wouldn't be based on love. His characteristics would still leave many questions unanswerable for us though.
@BJ151 the bible exists?

@BJ151 so we must believe in the god of the bible out of love instead of science?
