The first addition to my Mac collection. I use this iMac G3 regularly mostly for the internet and iTunes. When I originally got this iMac, it had a common problem with these slot-loading iMacs where the through age and heat, the headphone board solders break and the connection between the headphone ports and the board is interrupted leading the iMac to think that headphones are plugged in all the time not giving the speakers any sound and since the connection was interrupted, headphones didn't work either. Using glue and a soldering iron, I was able to repair the iMac headphone board and the iMac was given the gift of sound as heard in this video.

If you want to open your iMac G3 (slot-loading), you can use the same guide I did:

I'm collecting all New World Macs (since the iMac G3) with PowerPC processors (not Intel). I will upload videos of each of them when I get them.

  • What computer do you use to edit your videos?

Also nice video. The good old classic PowerPC Macs, gotta love them.

  • @chavitavb Oh kewl, my school used to have a ton of them laying around but they donated all of them or something.

  • 128GB hard drive is all iMac G3s can take

  • IVE GOT ONE JUST LIKE THAT.

  • @macprorocks yes you can but you would need a xpostfacto and g4 upgrade and with that you can update to OS 10.4 and 10.5

  • @Magostop unless you have 1GB of ram no, it doesnt do youtube well,

if you want a cheap mac get a powermac G4, its a lot more powerful than the G3s

  • Hay can this run wireless Internet? And do YouTube videos play well on this

  • @macprorocks whats the point of that get a g4 imac

  • @UnknownElluzions now it's old lol

  • Is it possible to hook it up to a USB wifi adapter? I have an adapter that supports Mac OS X, which some of the Imac G3 400 Mhz systems have, would that make it wireless? Also, what kind of DVD's will it play, I want one, but I want to make it wireless. Or would I need a airport card?

    Thanks.
