  • There is no such thing as best or correct procedures.

So long as the CG knows where you are and what your situation is, the call is not only good but correct.

For crying out loud. Boaters haven't needed for than two decades a license nor a training course to use a vhf. It's baloney to pretend there's a proper way. Anyone who pretends there is a proper way is only trying to turn the simple into the mysterious.

Or, as is Mercator's case, has something to sell.

  • Interesting, real life examples (?).

However, for correct emergency radio procedures (using DSC and voice), you can refer to my Marine VHF Radio Simulator and the Marine VHF Radio Handbook available from Mercator Publishing.

For recreational and small craft and also for SOLAS vessels.

    Regards, Mercator

  • This is a exampel but not the best!
