I almost titled this "Homeless Can Happen To Anybody". Paul Lambi had a great life and then ended up homeless. But today is runs a business and is a true leader in his community.

This weekend I visited my old home town of St Louis. The main reason was to meet homeless families living in a weekly rate hotel in St Charles County. Paul Kruse of First Step Back Home said Paul Lambi, the Mayor of Wentzville, was a huge help to the homeless families and was once homeless himself.

I really wish I had more time to hang with Mayor Lambi. On the eve of my 15th year anniversary of getting off the streets I know it is far from easy. But he had to leave and I had a reporter and photographer following me, and a documentary camera crew.

  • I've learned to never take anything for granted because of my poor upbringing. My heart aches when I see the homeless. I am glad for this Mayor how his life is going now. People, we are all human beings. Every homeless person has a story. I can't believe things that I've read from people, claiming they wouldn't hand a homeless person a hand. You! The one that refuses to lend your hand may be, in 10 or 20 years the one laying on the sidewalk on a box, with hunger pains.

  • Right on! Mr. Lambi has a great story, and I hope it gets alot of attention. Homelessness happens to all different kinds of people. Congratulations, Mr. Lambi.

  • @Midnightryder7 Please think positive and don't give up hope sweetie. Suicide is never the answer because it's final and there is no going back.

  • I'll be homeless in about 8 days..I'm trying my best to get a job even if it means flipping burgers..I don't have a car to stay in..it's winter now..have no one to turn to..all i have is an older married couple who can store my computer and a few items in a closet..Don't know if i can make it..I'm scared to death..if all goes wrong I'm thinking about commiting suicide

  • This is a great sucess story, but it really makes you realise that all the 'STUFF' that we purchase and accumilate when we are in employment is almost an illusion because when people become homeless, all that stuff is then sold to make ends meet and then we have ownership of nothing, until we get employed again. Worst case of cyclical consumption

It is best to try and stick to the 80/20 principle.

Lightening the Load of ownership to material possesions is to be free of the material world.

  • God Bless You Both!! Come soon Lord Jesus With Justice for All!!!

  • I also utilize my trunk as my closet and frequently change in my car when I need to. Otherwise I change in the gym after a workout and a shower.

  • @765tony My family are the definition of crabs in a barrel if one starts to pull up and out the rest will latch on and pull him back down. I now stay away I rarely visit we live less than 70 miles apart I might get to town once a year maybe 2 not for events it is on my time when I arrive. I just wish I had left them alone years ago had I known how mean they were I would have lived my life in a very differnt way. What I have left is not too bad I do have wife and kid that love me I don't bs them.

  • This is a wonderful channel!! I can relate to the issue of homeless. My good friend Jesse is currently homeless. He is a poet. This is actually his account I am on right now and I have taken control of it to rally support for him while he is out there. We have shot videos to document his experiences. I am sick to my stomach everyday with worry for him and am terrified he will not make it through the soon approaching harsh Canadian winter. I have lost my good friend to homelessness.

  • @cdltpx family--- the hardest people to deal with. Thats happened to me too. im so sorry man. i am glad youre still alive, and have your mind

  • After being really HL I said no more will I suffer this and decided to save all my money so I could buy a home or land somewhere I had the land was just trying to save enough to build a small structure on the land. Then a tornado flipped my truck and broke my back that halted my money making. I made a mistake I trusted someone that stole most of the money I earned. I would have had that house built if mom didnt steal all my money family crabs in a barrel human style. My mom the conartists.
