10 Minute Topics: Maghrebim Jews

The next in a weekly series of 10 minute topics teaching about various topics within Judaism. This week's topic is: Maghrebim Jews.

The Maghrebim are Jews from West African Jewish communities who were connected to known Jewish communities from North Africa, the Middle East, Portugal, and Spain. Historical records attest to the Maghrebim presence at one time in the Ghana, Mali, and Songhai empires which was called the Bilad al-Sudan. Jews from Morocco, Portugal, and Spain also formed communities off the coast of Senegal and on the islands of Cape Verde. After the rise of Islam in North and West Africa, these communities ceased to exist and have mostly disappeared due to migration and assimilation.

yes it is, Tony. She really should publish this in book form. This is EXCELLENT material that would take months of research to gather all together in one place. As a teacher, I know these presentaitons would be a God-send in high school to college level learning. I wish she would consider publishing it.

I would love to get some of my work both here and on my site into print. I am very busy right now but who knows. Maybe Hashem has it in "the cards" for me to get my work in print at some point.

Actually, I think the beauty is in your presentation as it is. Print may weight it down, and it would get lost in all the other books on the subject. Perhaps it is best to keep going as you are, producing as you already are, then returning to your video material and further editing and sharpening it...to publish it on dvd. Another though I had was a series of childrens books.

I would actually lean more toward e-books and/or DVDs anyway.

Yes, I have thought about childrens books as well. I am actually interested in maybe doing 3D animation for stories within the Tanach.

Yes, I agree with Tony, DVD may be the best avenue of publication. She should be compensated for this information. Personally, I would pay to have what she publishes and I know millions of others would too, especially Christians in Bible colleges and univesities, but certainly not limited to them. Its top-rate educational material of something everyone these days is interested in. Guarantee, Becoming, if you dont publish it, someone else will.
