    Were*

For the record, my main source for my facts is 'Working Class War - American Combat Soldier in Vietnam', by Christian Appy.

So, when does your point, your actual argument, come through?

Witness? Oh, with that logic we can never talk of history or assume anything contemporary has a historical precedent or legitimitation. Where you there when America gained independence? (Rhetorical question)

This well articulated process of channeling the human resources is common knowledge, not some obscure conspiracy theory. Look up the Selective Service System

  • @Faxe90Swe What would you know of how the government "channelized" those good men into service? Were you there? Were you a witness to this or possibly you've garnered your information from other "channelized" sources.

Feed your head dude, stop spouting off on topics you know nothing of.

  • Makes me want to get wasted ? Maybe that's why Charlie lost his mind ? This song ?

  • @Faxe90Swe Oh i know. the way the protesters were treated in America was very wrong. and just how the government did channel our good men. i do know some. i feel the use of propaganda in the Vietnam war was just over used and did confuse soldiers on why they are going to war. right now in my English class we are reading, "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien. Amazing book. its a shame it doesnt go into the whole story of the so called "war".

  • @CGingRun

An American with sane views of the Vietnam war? You better be cautious with your life, for you belong to an endangered species. Albeit I may generalize, granted.

You are aware of how the gov. carefully and cunningly "channeled" those good men into service, right? How it treated its own citizens? If not, you got a lecture ahead of you that will make you think it even more shitty.

That causality is a fabrication, with just enough exceptions to confirm the rule. We must confront our warriors, and we must understand them, punish them, reward them. That you put on a uniform and is given the right to kill in the name of your country doesn't make you either morally or judicially immune - quite the contrary, in my opinion. Of course, the part of understanding must be greatly emphasized when dealing with soldiers who didn't want to be soldiers in the first place...
