  • Beautiful. Now stop calling it a heliostat. a heliostat is a name

reserved for a mirror that tracks the sun at such an angle that it

reflects the light to a fixed distant spot, like a power-tower for a

steam boiler to run a turbine-generator. Yours is a sun-tracker.

  • @ireland1948 It looks like it's being powered by the sun itself... look on each side, it looks like it's a pair of photovoltaic cells

  • What is the power output of this installation? What is the square foot area of the concentrator? These two numbers will give us the energy efficiency need to compare this device to other concentrators methodologies such as steam, hot oil, Sterling, etc.

  • That is a pretty epic setup, but its not a heliostat. A heliostat is an array of mirrors that focuses light on a stationary point. Because the central mass is in motion with the array the point of focus is not stationary, voiding this device as a heliostat. It is called a parabolic array or parabolic dish.

It seems to be made at a commercial level, do you happen to know the manufacturer or designer?

Awesome video and great music. I must agree with rew, the musicians should be cited.

    Awesome

  • credit the musicians, please.
