Playing Warcraft 3 in Ubuntu 9.04 using Wine.
Guide How to Run Warcraft on Ubuntu: http://lancraft.blogspot.com/2009/07/how-to-install-warcraft-3-on.html
It runs on AMD Athlon XP 1700+, 768 MB Ram (DDR1) and GF 6200 128MB VRAM
It looks that Warcraft 3 is running slow but it isn't it is because Desktop Recorder program (gtk-Record My Desktop) + my slow PC :) and + Compiz is On :D

  • does it work in 11.04?

  • @TheBenjiAk yes

  • Ok, i run garena and all with wine and it all works good, but when i start the game using the path, the game is very laggy and un playable. Although when i start the game using the terminal and typing wine "home/alex/Desktop/Warcraft III/Frozen Throne".exe -opengl it works perfectly and i can set the graphics way high with no lag although i can't play with people because u have to start it from garena.... What do I do???? please help! =D

  • @ajt2014 try running garena with -opengl tag

  • @love2spooge91 =[ yeah it didn't work unfortunately... Any other ideas? I have to reason why it isnt working... Do you think somehow, i could set up something that when i press start game, it runs it from the terminal? I am not so good at coding and bash and I don't think i could do any of that stuff. Thanks for the idea, it sounded like it would work. So is there any other tags i could do or something? Thank you

  • @ajt2014 i found this

Go to Garena > Settings, change your Executable settings normally, like "C:\Warcraft\war3.exe", but type "-opengl" into the Game Bootstrap Parameters field. Save and you are done, Wacraft should work.

    and you're done

  • dude can u help me... everytime i tr\y to run frozen throne witt wine .. it says "e file '/media/'Forever'/warcraft III 1.24/Warcraft III/Frozen Throne.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit."

  • @love2spooge91 Thank you man. Yeah, my buddy gave me just warcraft and i didnt install it, so when it ran through garena, there was no command. I installed it and now it works fine. But yeah thanks for the help. =D
