One of the singing legends, so many recordings of him have been made that I found it surprising this wasn't already on youtube. If it is already on youtube I couldn't find it. It is the theme song of "Love Never Dies" - Gilbert and Shilkret. Enjoy.

  • Me too, my parents loved this song and name me, their first born 1952 after this song. They, chose a different spelling, however: Jenneine

  • My name is also Jeannine. My mom named me after her best friend but told me about this song when I was a little girl - a LONG time ago. I am having my 74th birthday today. :)

  • I was also named after this song.

  • i too was named after this song... my grandad sang it to my mum.... how i wish they were both still here so i could play it for them today.. thanks for the memories...

  • Lyric by L Wolfe Gilbert, Music by Nathaniel Shilkret. Composed as the Theme song for the first national production of LILAC TIME starring Collen Moore

  • Me, Too!! I see that someone else's Mom also changed the spelling (my Mom thought it would be easier when I was young). Mom would sing me the first line, but that was it. I have tears in my eyes to finally hear this song, and wishing my Mom could also hear it. She passed away ten years ago, born in 1924.

  • For those who would like to sing, here's the lyrics:

    Jeannine, I dream of lilac time;

    Your eyes, they gleam in lilac time.

    Your winning smile and cheeks blushing like a rose,

    Yet all the while you sigh when nobody knows.

    Jeannine, my queen of lilac time,

    When I return I'll make you mine;

    For you and I our love dream can never die,

    Jeannine, I dream of lilac time...

  • I am also a Janine and had not heard this song til today, though in the 1960's, my dentist used to sing it to me!
