  • Stephen Fry is every bit as talented as Hugh Laurie. Together they are sheer brilliance.

  • Why the hell is Hugh Laurie only praised in this?

Stephen Fry is brilliant in it too.

  • the only thing i dont like about the "fry and laurie" phenomenon is that in America, people just hear "laurie" It really makes me mad that the only person who mentions Stephen is Hugh!

  • There you are right. But I never owned a television and I a mot sure if we have it on Israeli television. I so much like Hugh Laurie there must be good acting in House.

  • @RasMajnouni

Sorry, I don't mean jeeves and wooster..... that and everything else you mentioned im familiar with, but the programe about the best of masterpiece theatre.

Oh also, don't be so judgemental on house md. It's fantastic. It introduced me to hugh, and consequently stephen (although I was familiar with him, i wasnt aware of their partner work) and house is a brilliant show. Give it a couple episodes.....you'll be hooked :)

  • @Orlabobz 1990-1993.They did other series as a pair "A bit of Fry & Laurie" 1987-1995 & Friday Night Live 1988,before that Cambridge Footlights Review 1982 the 2 of them with Emma Thompson,Slaterly,Shearer.Of course both have done so many more on stage, film & TV.I've seen most of their works except including 2 minutes of "House MD" since American TV is not my cup of tea.

  • Yes, there is definitely something dark about Stephen and Jeeves, and even Wilson from House! It seems Hugh is always a good partner to someone with this kind of darkness, however usually it's not explored as much as it could or should be. It adds a sort of depth to the relationship that I find fascinating.

Because there is no need to state the obvious

  • You can't help but love Fry's characters in the Fry and Laurie bits.

  • oO!! The poooor sad people here in the states who were introduced to the genius of the Laurie end of the irrepressible Fry, Laurie Team only after watching House!!! I'm so grateful for my public broadcasting station.(well, the old days!)

because i was lucky enough to grow up on Masterpiece Theatre.

Gussie and his damn newts will be forever in my heart. Such FANTASTIC casting.. Thanks, P.G.... the books are hilarious.. Wodehouse = an absolute staple in any reader's collection.

  • I'm not an admirer of Stephen fry...but he's the 'star' in this show...

  • @cynthiailly

Ah so he does, its odd, i've become accustom to both Bertie British and House American (and indeed all his accents from a bit of fry and laurie ect) so I actually didn't notice until reading your comment and re-listening!
