My arrangement of two classic guitar pieces from the late 19th and early 20th centuries: played in Open D (DADF#AD) on my Michael Messer Lightning resophonic guitar. Filmed by Nick Buck.

  • That looks like an Epiphone 12 string in the background. If so, what model is it?

  • @Chriskendall1000 I'm afraid it's not an Epiphone: I only wish it was! That's my Freshman FA-200-E-12, a very workmanlike 12-string with a good built-in pickup and EQ. It's in action on some of my other vids - Broke Down Engine and You're No Good.

  • Love it, do you have Tab?

  • @nohomatt Sorry, I don't have tab for this arrangement but there is tab for Vestapol on Steve McWilliam's tab site (I think). Googling his name should find his site. Thanks for kind words!

  • Fantastic , love Vestapol, you really got that metronome thumb going, nice and clean..........skills I really need , but don't have yet !

    Cheers,Dean

  • Thanks to all for the positive comments! The two pieces seemed to me to be natural companions.

  • A very nice rendition indeed!

  • Brilliant! I've just got myself a MM Lightning and it's tuned to open D which is new to me but I just love the sound. Tonight I went searching for stuff to play in this tuning, found Stefan Grossman's lesson on Vestapol which I faffed about with for a while and I will spend some time getting it under my hands. Then I noticed you with MY GUITAR playing the same tune... Thanks, Gerry. You just made my day :-)

  • Well played!

  • Headstock looks remarkably like the headstock on my Epiphone 12 st.

  • thank you for post it sir

    very good

    best regards

  • Can't get enough of this one, Gerry. Nicely done!
