  • At last I can die happy. I've heard Don Diego sing. ---O'Ross

  • I've re-read my comment above, and I don't mean to sound snide. I have wanted to hear Diego sing for some time. He has a reedy voice rather like a resonant oboe. I wish the boys would write a song for his voice.

  • Why didn't they put some of these songs on the album? The last one and Pachai's.There great!

  • @gigimc, oh yes. Seems to suit his voice, too. Is Diego retired? And Canut? I've been wondering how many of the originals still go on the road.

  • @35mm35 well "Petite Noya" is all him & the best jam on the CD, frankly lol

  • @1cremebrulee , well said. When you write music for a voice, think of it as an instrument. One doesn't write the same for an oboe as for a cello or a guitar. That was my only point. Now I'll have to look up Sonia and listen. I've never cared for cantaoras in flamenco, so I understand. One of the things I admire about GK is their ability to create hooks in a song, ear candy. Because of that, they turned out hit after hit. I have 6 of their CD's. Good to hear from you.

  • @35mm35 Not everyone that CAN sing is supposed to or should sing a lead. When you factor in the type of music they sing...perhaps his reedy voice is not well suited for that type of music. For instance there is a video of Sonia Reyes, a niece of theirs, and if you listen you can tell she has a high pitched singing voice but it doesn't mesh well with the low gutteral tones of flamenca. That doesn't mean by any means that Sonia can't sing because she can, just not everything.

  • And here I thought they all spoke and understood spanish as well as french.....haaaa!! But I love how they work with each other, helping each other thru a song. Let me tell you, as one that has work with recording artists/group, that is not the norm with out someone throwing an attitude. I love the Gipsy Kings!!! I love this video!! I literally could go on and on about them.

  • Diego teaching some spanish words to Canut....by signaling him what "lloraré" "miraré".."tocaré"...

  • everyday i get on and see the gk hear them relax before i go to the real world to work but on the way there i hear them in my car so i get away again i dont understand the language i wish i did but music in international

  • finally I found Diego singing and "talking" Tonino and Diego usually like to be low profile..I don't even know Tonino's voice...!!!

  • Os llevo dentro de mi corazon, las canciones de los maestros me transportan a otro mundo , que bien toca tonino.
