From the Beatles Anthology DVD which you can buy here http://tinyurl.com/29kolg . A few comments from George Harrison, Ringo Starr and John Lennon on the misery that apparently was the proto-Reality TV Let It Be Twickenham sessions.

  • It's when you're forced to do anything that you're simply NOT crazy about doing - it becomes tedious and more WORK than fun. The Beatles were musical adventurers and they took the listening public on their ride of happiness and freedom and unbridled joy and then grew up and began to seek the answer. They were always into what they were doing and here, for the first time, they weren't. The cracks were really beginning to show.

  • They were like a family and families fall out and grow apart let's enjoy the music they did

  • I've been in plenty of bands -and i would be certain that if this was any other group they would have broken up years earlier ...you cant be in the biggest band ever and not feel it rolling along with a momentum thats too fast too jump off . Kinda like being a playboy bunny -stay with old creep hefner -and indulge his money -or leave with integrity and be the waitress you may only ever be .Look at what they did after - sad for us - liberating for them Will not see the likes of them again.

  • @fauxfat They were indeed musically gifted, and perhaps that situation gave them more inspiration for their last songs, who knows. Perhaps if they had been in a happy situation none of those songs would've been written.-

    Cheers.

  • beatle bom é beatle morto!

  • @Nonazoona

The others band members had their significant others there, and John had Yoko. The tension was from none of them really wanting to be there (except Paul). I'm sure the Yoko thing added to it, but I don't see what she was doing 'wrong'. She was just sitting there. I also don't think John, as strong willed as he is, would ever let someone force themselves on them and just accept it. He'd just say 'F you'.

  • I'm sure it did get very petty. But if you look at the videos during those days when they recorded the album - they do look bored, that's for sure. What incredible music though. I'm so glad they did as much as they did because the evolution of their music is just incredibly fantastic to listen to. Every one of them a hit IMO.

  • Harrison seemed a bit snooty as to not want to be there and Twikenham ..yes very convenient after the skills of John and Paul made you the musician you became..be grateful Georgie boy and follow the leaders..Be happy that you too also came for the ride...

  • @Nonazoona From Jan 1963 till Dec 1980 Lennon could have shagged any bird he wanted because he was John Lennon. Truth is Lennon was looking for a Mother figure & a creative partner. Listen to the lyrics for Help. And what could Ono have on Lennon ? The Gay Epstein rumor? Who gives a shit. Trust me I had no time for Yoko but we have to accept it was Lennons choice to be together 24/7

  • @kingofpunk1977 How do you know that Lennon brought her...maybe she brought herself. Forcing herself on him. I personally think that Ono had something on the poor guy. I mean it was plain as day what she was doing to the band. And it explains in this vid that he was really only fed up with the cameras and everything, not the beatles. So I don't think he would want to have someone coming between the band. I agree with your material/George thing though.
