Update: See my video of the 2010 event http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgAhgepIMt4
This time lapse of the Opera House was taken from the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, on June 13th and 14th, the final 2 nights of the Smart Light Walk which is part of the Vivid Sydney Festival.
The movie is a combination of 3 sequences containing 850 images, all taken with a Nikon D200 and a remote control (MC-36). I put the camera Manual and the drive to Continuous, then locked the shutter release on the remote and kept shooting continuously until the battery died (about 45 minutes per sequence).
Medium JPG's were taken straight from the camera and rendered to a movie using Photoshop CS4, these clips then combined using iMovie '08.
Sequence #1: 35/1.8 DX @ F3.2, ISO 100, 8 second exposures, rendered at 24FPS
Sequence #2: 18-200 VR @ F4.8 & 62mm, ISO 100, 8 second exposures, rendered at 24FPS
Sequence #3: 35/1.8 DX @ F4.5, ISO 100, 15 second exposures, rendered at 12FPS.
The slight image shift in sequence #2 is me turning off VR halfway through, bad move.
Nice one, what interval did you use?
