FAQ's are at the bottom of the description

Hauppauge released their HD PVR device last summer for the amazing pricepoint of $250- the same price point as the HAVA. While it has some limitations, since Amazon sells the Hauppauge for $200 USD and you get to record in up to 1080i, it is definitely the best value for a recorder of it's caliber.

Final Thoughts:

If you want to be able to play in HD and record in SD consider:
HAVA Wireless HD or HAVA Platinum HD

You may want to consider the Blitzbox HD, but since they raised the price of it $30, they completely killed the great value of the Blitzbox. I definitely consider the HAVA a better buy; however, it's a little less user friendly when broadcasting.

However, it looks just as well with the work-around.

If you want a recorder under $100 consider:
Pinnacle Video Transfer (better than the Dazzle)

If you want the best-value HD recorder on the market consider:
Hauppauge HD PVR

######FAQ's######
Why is the Hauppauge not recording in 1080i?
The hauppauge will record whatever resolution your consoles (or other device) output it to it. In other words, you need to have your consoles running on 1080i; however, it's better for video games to run on progressive (IE: 720p)

Does it work on a Mac?
The Hauppauge now works with (I believe only) Intel Macs.

Are you affiliated with Hauppauge?
No.

  • it may be a stupid question but I don't have the money atm to buy a HD TV and a PVR. are there any capture cards that have as good of quality as PVR's? I currently have the best type of dazzle but the quality still isn't good enough for me.

  • @BattleGB From what I've seen the Pinnacle Video Transfer can give you some crisp SD pictures. However, nothing will make the text as clear as an HD PVR. And, for this, most people don't like the quality of anything but the HD PVR.

  • @BattleGB Alternatively, make sure you're using S-Video with your dazzle... It'll make it not look as much like crap :P

  • I want to know how to set it up on a standard definition tv.

  • @mystery1229 Why would you buy this for an SD TV? You can't really get an HD recording with it on an SD TV unless you spend another $200 on converters.

  • dude im just gonna be legit and ask, is it possible in any way to record while playing with a 1080p hdmi cable, because thats what ive always done, without the hdmi cable (1080p) im terrible, and now theres really no point to record, so with an xbox 360 is there anyway at all i can play with 1080p hdmi and still record?

  • @zzoriginalz Unless you have a quadcore computer with an intense GFX card, you wouldn't even be able to start. Plus, you gotta downgrade it in the end anyway. I don't see the point really because the visual difference is so minimal.

  • wtf 200 dollars

  • @apoclpyespony You must not understand how Im explaining it then. I've set this thing up multiple times across every console known to man... I can't see where there's a "short cut" since I only use 2 cables -- which you have to use.

  • @RoganSarine i think you've never use an HD PVR with a ps3 and 360 because with ps3 u need additional cables however with the 360 u don't u just use the cables the HD PVR I'm just saying that how you connect the HD PVR is that way u mention for the ps3 not 360 360 is different i should know I've connected mine and my friends HD PVR multiple times you're just making things more complicated than they should when connecting the console to the PVR to the tv
