Behind-the-scenes look at Michael Rosner and Eye Level Studio's photo shoot for Believer's "Transhuman" album cover. Transhuman will be released April 12, 2011 via Metal Blade Records.
I just feel like Transhuman was that final push to a full on prog/industrial, almost avant garde direction. The entire album provokes thought with the lyrics on the subject.
Kurts vocals blend with the music more, and he shows off a very superb singing voice to compliment his harsh yells. The album gives of a mechanical feel that I love,as well as having a fare share of more hooks compared to their past work.
But in the end. Different people will perceive music differently.
Stoned is a fairly fleshed out song,sounds a little like how we left off on Dimensions.
History of Seclined is possibly my favorite song on the album,next to The Brave. A very Sanity Obscure like riff,haunting vocals, and the Violin gives me shivers every time I listen.
The Brave sort of sounds a more like Transhuman. A more Progressive direction,softer (although mostly due to the guest vocals) and fluctuated a bit.
Kurts voice sounded obviously aged with the 16 year break,and was a big contribution to me being less of a fan of the album than the other. Gone was his harsh thrash rasps,replaced with a sort of grainy yell. I feel like it didn't fit the music that expanded on Dimensions. The thrashier songs like Medwton felt stripped with the lack of those booming raspy vocals.
@jamlimited3 Its a little hard for me to explain.
Now,my original favorite album from them was Sanity Obscure. Mostly thrash, a few prog elements but not much. Just good old thrash metal.
Dimensions wasn't my cup of tea. I loved Gone,maybe my favorite believer song. Just so dark and moody. The trilogy of knowledge was the only other song that cought my interest, as well as Dimentia. Everything else just sounded like a confused mess to me.
@TheRPGguy94 Please explain more how this is their best yet. I have the hardest time believing digesting that statement in all integrity. Dimensions destroys the egg of musical boundaries. The albums before it have several great songs each. Gabriel begins with Medwton....one of the coolest most epic songs Ive ever heard in my life! Shut out the Sun is monstrously epic(like watching the Transformers intro for the first time). The 4th album hinges on 3 songs in my opinion.
@jamlimited3 I think Transhuman is their best album yet. The songs are catchy,I dont think Kurt Bachmans voice has ever been better,and the lyrics are very thought provoking.
Gabriel wasn't BAD,but I would be lying if I didn't say it was boring to me. It sounded so out of place, confused in a way. Its like it couldn't decided if it wanted to be Prog metal or Thrash (not progressive thrash like their earlier albums) I loved Gabriel when it came out but now I can hardly bring myself to listen.
@TheRPGguy94 Brutal honesty...it didnt. I still am by their prior albums though. I wince in disgust at those who say Gabriel wasnt impressive....that album til this day makes me wonder how far music can reach. Transhuman however has me praising songs versus the album. Certain songs just hit my imagination like "Clean Room". Other songs leave me asking "why dont I like this song again" then I listen and Im like "Oh". I love the band, half the songs, but not the album.
Til the album drops Im gonna drain every drop of inspiration out of the prior 4 Believer albums. Im really assuming this will be the best album I hear all year. I guess when you expect so much from a band that believers in having new vision for each album, you kinda just feel the weight of risk. However bands like Radiohead are praised for such consistency releasing unique projects proving it can be successful. I think Believer will be praised 4 such after this album(if not already).
@jamlimited3 Fourth.

Why do some people make video montages so grainy? It may be artsy, but pointless.
