Part 1 of 2. Edited post of the premiere episode of the weekly TV series SOLID GOLD. Starring Dionne Warwick and THE SOLID GOLD DANCERS. This is the episode that launched 8 seasons of weekly television history. In this episode the dancers perform with Irene Cara ("Fame") and Chuck Berry ("Johnny Be Good"). The dancers also do a "countdown" but it's like nothing we're used to seeing.

A time before the internet & DVR's when you had to wait with anticipation to see these shows. Everyone watched the same thing & you could discuss it with each other. It was the highlight of the week for kids. Chores had to be done them watch this show with our siblings.

this was a good show until it went downhill after a few years with the weekday version. plus it began to ran It corse when they re-branded the show with Solid Gold In Concert. I remember the first time I saw great white on that show. it did suffer from many revolving doors of show host. Andy Gibb for example couldn't get his crap together and missed a few tapings before they dropped him. MicKoul sucks as a host, Rick dees was a tool and so was Dionne Warwick.

This show could of last forever as music never dies and there are always new artist , and count downs to the number 1 song of the week . I'm not sure why they took it off the air .
