Solid Gold / The First Episode - part 1

Part 1 of 2. Edited post of the premiere episode of the weekly TV series SOLID GOLD. Starring Dionne Warwick and THE SOLID GOLD DANCERS. This is the episode that launched 8 seasons of weekly television history. In this episode the dancers perform with Irene Cara ("Fame") and Chuck Berry ("Johnny Be Good"). The dancers also do a "countdown" but it's like nothing we're used to seeing.

A time before the internet & DVR's when you had to wait with anticipation to see these shows. Everyone watched the same thing & you could discuss it with each other. It was the highlight of the week for kids. Chores had to be done them watch this show with our siblings.

@jilajig2 - that isn't Adrian Zmed. The dark haired male dancer's name is Tony Fields and the red head's name is Alex Cole. Adrian was never a dancer on SOLID GOLD.

I JUST LOVE THE DANCE NUMBERS AND THE DANCERS! What the hell has happened to good TV with variety? All these reality TV Shows on today are crap! Does anyone know if Soul Train is still on?

@lbCharmed1 haha. To me there was something about the anticipation of things, it made them special, be it albums, tv shows or movies. Now everyone can just click a button & it's too easy. I hate to sound old, I love the internet but I really miss the simpler times.

Me too. I was 13 that time and I would joined my older brothers watching it on Mon nights right after finishing my homework. The programme would then be the talk in school the next day esp with the girls discussing about those who performed the previous night. Sweet memories... Greetings from Singapore.
