billed as "The New Bandstand Theme" by Mike Curb and The Waterfall this was heard on the popular dance show from 1969-1974. Here is an opening segment and abbreviated closing from a VH1 replay in 1997. It was originally broadcast in color but VH1, for some reason, played a crummy black and white kinescope.

  • This was my favorite American Bandstand theme THANKS!!!!!

  • In a way, this was better as a B/W kinescope, as color videotape can really deteriorate over time (having seen a bunch of college football telecasts from as early as 1966 that were in color). The other problem is, many shows from this time only survive as kinescopes because videotape back then was prohibitively expensive (especially compared to today). That's why so much of the older era was lost (other than sporting events).

  • @91dodgespiritrt Mine, too!

  • Dick Clark in his prime !

  • This soundtrack sounds light it should be on action film. On a scale of 33-98 I give an 80. LOL. Rate a theme.

  • I'm a collector of tv film soundtractks.I have the original record disc of Mike Curb "Bandstand Theme" used for American Bandstand during the late 60's. Also, I have Joe Porter original recording of the hard to find synthezier orchestral disco version of "Bandstand Boogie' 74 "(American Bandstand Theme) used from 1974-1977. I, also have the Les Elgart and Barry Manilow original "Bandstand Boogie" recordings. I've posted these listings of findings on Wikipedia.

  • @thefirefighter2011 I was just saying to a friend of mine... 1969 was definitely Mike Curb's year for TV themes, having scored for at least 3 other ABC Saturday Morning shows that season! The odds were something else, especially then.

  • i wished the ending was longer:)

  • i remember this one from the early '70s

  • I saw on ebay a few years back a 45 promotional copy record of this theme....it sold for at least 25 bucks, I tried buying but was outbid. Seems any of this era AB shows are very difficult find....
