@bardtoob that whole list is pretty crazy... but Bontas at the top was the worst. 4 big bobbles. Miller certainly deserved that spot.

This routine was the best Ive seen on this competition. Gutu's was a disaster!!!

No, back then every team member competed on every apparatus, and the lowest score was dropped. The top three scoring gymnasts from each country (Compulsories, Team Optionals combined) were qualified to do the AA. Gutsu fell in Team Optionals, and placed 4th on her team. The team coaches decided that Roza was too inexperienced and that they had a better chance at AA gold with Gutsu. Thats when they faked an injury for Galieva to allow Gutsu to compete.

Gutsu fell on beam in team optionals. Galieva and Gutsu both did all the compulsory and all the optional routines. That is how it was done then. Anyway for both to have been eligible to qualify for the all around practicaly both would have had to compete on every routine in both rounds.

I thought Gutsu fell on the Beam . . . Oh, that's right. That's why Galieva did Gutsu's compulsories for her.

I agree that Roza Galieva was magnificent in her BB compulsory. A 9.95 in view of how the apparatus was scored.
However, Gutsu's routine was not a disaster. Solid throughout, dynamic, exceptional form...she only wavered on a full turn.
