The Vatican is preparing a DVD to show priests and the faithful how the Tridentine Mass is celebrated also known as the Traditional Mass.

This mass, celebrated in Lain, is a predecessor of the current one and was adopted between the Council of Trent and the Second Vatican Council.

Seven years after the Council of Trent, in 1570, the Pope, St. Pius V published an edition of the Roman Missal. With this publication he did not create the new Mass, but he unified all the existing forms of liturgy. This lasted until 1963.

The DVD, being produced by the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, will be available in four languages: Spanish, English, French and Italian.

The video features the recording of a complete Mass following the Latin rite.

It also highlights the various moments and actions during the celebration, such as the preparation or key moments of the Mass.

In this way, the Holy See wants the faithful to know and better understand the Tridentine Mass, especially after Pope Benedict XVIs allowing it to be celebrated universality without special permission.

  • For the most part a good video except a few factual irregularities. For example, the Tridentine Mass was not adopted at Trent but was an organic evolution codified at the Council of Trent. And, it is incorrect to say the Pope Benedict XVI made it so that the Older Mass could be said without special permission. As stated from the motu proprio, Summorum Pontificum: "It is, therefore, permissible to celebrate the Sacrifice of the Mass... promulgated by Bl. John XXIII in 1962 and never abrogated."

  • Thanks, moneybags. We will explay this in a new version.

  • This Mass isn't how "Mass was celebrated before Vatican II". It was never abrogated, is celebrated by millions of Catholics today, and is just as much a form of the Roman Rite.

  • @cloudsurfer007

Council of Trent was the last thing from a disaster. The second Vatican Council was a disaster. why do you think vocations decreased 98%. why do you think 70% of Catholics no longer believe in the true presence. why do you think contraception, annulments, homosexuality crisises have emerged.

THE WAY TO CONVERT PROTESTANTS IS NOT BUTCHERING OUR FAITH AND DISMANTELING ONE OF THE GREATEST COUNCILLS. THE WAY TO GO ABOUT IT IS THE PROCLAIM THE TRUTH AND GO BACK TO TRADITION.

  • The same priest who was kicking on our face years ago bringing a police on us, when we were kneeling to take a Communion, this same priest now will offer a Tridentine Mass?

    God can not be mocked!

  • I say- b16 is INSANE!

Why then he IMOPSEs modernist changes on SSPX?

Preamble of Doctrine is about Novus Ordo imposing on SSPX!

    Vatican II-

All of you are clinically INSANE!

  • Start FROMthe CONVERSION to Roman Catholic Faith in a first place! Benedict XVI, CONVERT TO THE HOLY ROMAN CATHOLIC, ORTHODOX FAITH!Burn your heretic books! Chase away the demons from the church! Declare yourself as an anti-pope!!!!!

  • Whole dogmatic teaching is destroyed, the Ecumenism of one religion with demoniacs- then this, as a cherry on a top of v2 cake.

  • Vatican II does not have a VALID ordination of priests. Who is going to celebrate this mass? It would be INVALID!

  • @themodnoc1213 Good points especially on head covering. St Paul treats the issue as much deeper than a changeable disciplinary point. The modernists treat the Fathers and their theology with contempt, so the loss of certain or many traditions and Traditions is to be expected as well as lamented.

I may add, St Pius V made it specific in his address that the ancient liturgies (Divine Liturgy's of Eastern Churches, etc) were to be upheld.

  • @kevin45271 Battle of Lepanto. A defining moment in the history of Europe. St. Pius pray for us.

  • ...has this DVD been made yet???

  • St Pius v feast was today. When the Catholics defeated the Muslims off the greek coast. In a naval battle.
