Alien 3 Teaser Trailer

This teaser for Alien 3 was extremely misleading in more ways than one. The film was director David Fincher's first feature film.

The original plan was to base Alien 3 on the comic book series Aliens: Outbreak in which earth was overrun. Dark Horse got the comic license from Fox after Aliens and the go-ahead to pick up the story from there. I much prefer their version with Newt institutionalized and Hicks becoming a shunned alcoholic before all hell breaks loose to them being dead the entire movie.

Early teaser trailers like this are usually released way before filming is completed and in some cases while in pre production. And everything you said is ruined by your horrible grammar and random yelling.

Felt like a unfinished movie thanks to studio interference. Fincher was handcuffed by Fox the whole time & of course when it wasn't well received they threw him under the bus . Surely they didn't take blame for starting with either no script or a unfinished one. Not a bad film but a missed opportunity.

Crikey, I haven't seen Dark Star in donkey's years. The ending was pretty cool and far out! ^_^

Aliens has just as many flaws but no one really wants to challenge it b/c it's James Cameron & it was loaded with guns & splatter. It's a good movie but far from perfect.

Alien was also inspired by another movie by Dan O'Bannon called Dark Start. Watch that one sometime.

Alien3 was a good film and certainly does not deserve the shit it gets. The flaw is that they simply did not have any idea where to take the series, and so it was the most original episode. Alien was Terror from beyond Space and Planet of Vampires, whilst Aliens was THEM! and the novel Starship Troopers. Great films, but blatantly riding on the back of other works. Alien3 didn't have such a foundation to work from save "a brutal prison drama meets Theasus & the Minotaur".
