of course its real, throwing knives dont rotate very fast, he watched first to to see at what point in the spin he would catch it, then just closed his hand.

If you've ever played Fallout New Vegas. One of the levels of the dexterity attribute is knife thrower. The next is knife catcher. I always thought it was a joke.
