This week's drill is meant to counterbalance our series of paddle drills -- just to make sure everyone knows we're not schilling for the paddle companies!

  • Re. TracyMac's comment asking for clarification. Much of the usefulness of drills, particularly like this one for hands, is that doing them is a way for you to get the clarification your seeking for yourself, through experimentation in the water, improving your feel for the water. So, my advice to you would be to get to the pool! That's certainly what I plan to do!

  • Good response. Thanks. No two people do things exactly the same, so some people hands closed, some hands open. Like the post above... find out what works best for you.

  • Thanks for the video... swimming really gives you the time to think of components and one of them I found was experimenting with hand positions and how it affects the movement of your body. Recently, I started splaying my hands and it felt so good... the video also showed may other styles and i will experiment more. What is very interesting is; many swimmers have many diff. styles. It is fun to watch them all.

  • good

  • yeah i have seen MP's fingers flutter when he swims... makes more sense now

  • thanks so much. That's what I suspected.

  • We've produced more than 20 DVDs featuring some of the greatest swimmers in history. Many of them keep their hands a bit open. If the fingers are too much together, the surface area is reduced.

  • wait so when you swim your hands should be spread apart a little in order to swim better? Cuz some of the other youtube clips tell you to close the hands so theres no gap between the fingers. SOMEONE PLZ CLARIFY!!! Much Thx.

  • someone smart please help me

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TALK TO ME ZI
