Testing out the rig for my POV camera on my engine at Chula Vista Live Steamers. Hope to do more views later from the cab, looking forward etc. The sound isn't so good, the sampling rate is pretty low. So I'll probably do sync sound on a separate recorder. Looks like tilted up a little bit and it will be perfect as far as the view goes.

Mostly posting here to appease all the requests for some running footage of the Chloe. :)

  • Great! do they have wood burning live steamers? they're always fueled on propane.

  • @SierraRailway Actually propane fired steamers are in a minority. Most are oil or coal fired. Mine is propane fired, however. I'd say about 20 - 25% propane fired out there.

I know of one wood fired live steamer, an American. I have seen it at Bitter Creek and Train Mountain. Can't remember the guy's name. It's quite a challenge to wood fire an engine that small.

  • That's terrific - is it on a magic arm?

  • @railwaychannel it's on a piece of bronze stock with a 1/4" hole drilled into it, clamped to the shay style pilot step I have. Those fancy arms aren't always rigid enough for stuff like this.
