This is a beautiful set up, very inspiring.
I have 18 green neon tetra as well, absolutely lovely fish. Mine always hide behind my big rock, they are not free swimming like yours. I have them for approximately 1 month now. My guess is that they are still in a new environment.

Lovely~
what did you use for substrate in the back where it is deep? I heard that pure sand to create slopes can create toxic gas buildup ...
Thank you!

@Roqshaina I used a thin layer of ADA Power Sand Special to coat the very bottom of my aquarium. On top of that, I layered a thick slope using ADA Aqua Soil Amazonia. The sand that you see in the front is the only sand in the entire aquarium. The sand is not my primary substrate.

woohhh, it's lovely
how much light did you use?
i whant to buy a ada 60-F aquarium, but the lighting is a problem. I don't know how much light i need.
i saw some lights with 2x24 watt t5. is that enough?
greetings,
Jarne

@NAAMLOOS08 It depends on what you want to grow. 2x24 watt T5HO should be enough to grow medium light plants. Maybe some high light plants.
Since the 60-F is a shallow tank, it is more forgiving with lower light. However, I used a 150 watt metal halide pendant suspended 12" above the tank (17" above the substrate). This gave me very high light conditions. This risks an algae bloom. To avoid this, you'll need plenty of healthy plants to outcompete the algae for nutrients.

I have probably watched this 100 times over the past two weeks. And all that ADA equipment, what a dreamy aquarium. Your tank will be my reference when I make the shift to a iwagumi styled tank. Can I ask what plants you used? And were those green neon tetras?

@sourcesurfer Glad to inspire you. :)
I used Hemianthus callitrichoides (Baby Dwarf Tears) for my foreground carpet and flame moss in the back.
Yes, those were green neon tetras.
