  • black people, hispanic people? I did not see any...

  • sfa420,

While I admit there weren't a lot of blacks and hispanics at the event, they were present, and were not excluded. In fact, two of the first speakers (before I had to leave) were black, and got great cheers from the majority-white crowd, because of the content of their speech, not the color of their skin.

Why are you bothering to bring skin color and ethnic background into this, anyway? The protest was about spending, not about skin color.

  • These aren't about loss of civil rights. They're about overspending by the government. We're putting our children (and ourselves) into some serious debt, and need to turn off the spigot soon and repeal some of the recent spending. I'm an engineer, and my firm has gotten some 'stimulus' jobs, but I still think we should stop all this spending. As far as I'm concerned, both parties are at fault, and I'm hoping my congressman (Culberson) gets a primary opponent, because he is a porker, too.

  • Yeah I saw people who were both white and slightly off-white, and even that was a little too diverse for me! Git r done!

  • Y'all hush up now while mamma is watchin her picture box! I'm like dat dere constitution and I like dat dere George dubblya B00sh. If it's good nuff fer Glenn Beck it's good nuff for me!

  • I just found it odd in a city with such a huge minority that what I saw on the news was mostly white. Not trying to say anything right/wrong or indiffrent about it.

  • I saw people of various races and anyone upset about wasteful spending and unprecended growth of the fed were welcome to attend. We can't help it if most black people voted for Obama and are evidently all for an ever-larger federal government/bail-outs/endless entitlements/trillions in debt ... nothing for them to protest!

  • I was there with attendees of all ages and races who are fed up with the unjust growth of the federal government and RIDICULOUS spending spree currently under way.

All you whiners who want to keep bashing Bush (and who think you don't have civil rights?!) ... keep bashing/whining if you like - we still have freedom of speech (for now!). If you can read, you might want to pick up a copy of the Constitution so you can understand what this movement is about.

  • What are you talking about? I was there today at the Houston tea party. I had old people, young people, headbangers, blacks, whites, asians, hispanics, republican, democrat, independents, and just about every other slice of America and we are all just sick and tired of run away government spending and this whole notion that government wants to control every aspect of our lives. Government has become the oppressor and its the fault of both parties and this is the start of changing it!
