National Qarsak - Qarsak e meli - Afghanistan

Qarsak is the national song and dance of Afghanistan. It orginated in Panjshir where the people sit around in a circle and clap while one person dances in the middle. The music is accompanied with clapping. Qarsak is the closest to a national dance and song in Afghanistan. Afghanistanis perfom Qarsak, at parties and weddings, etc. Some people say that the attan is the national dance but that is wrong. The Attan is a tribal dance and it is limited to nomadic Pashtuns in the south and its unknown to everyone else. Even the new singers who come out with new DVDs and CDs include one or two Qarsaks in the new albums.
