A period of the 1998 FAI Bathurst 1000 where Forrest Elbow was full of carnage - firstly the (eventual) winner Steven Richards makes contact with a lapped car and then the infamous incident where Simon Wills cannons into the Ken Douglas Falcon.

This video also includes an interview with Steven Johnson, analysis of the incident and all the damage - just check out that Castrol Falcon!!!

Apologies for the poor vision... having said that it's better than no video at all!

Credit must go out to V8 Supercars Australia and Channel 10 without copyright intentions.

  • So when were all bitching about how bad channel 7's commentary is these days, just remember how shithouse it was way back then... Diffey, Oastler and Rusty were bloody amateurs.

  • @dazza027 I don't think it's the commentary that's the problem - they have some really good commentators channel 7, maybe with the exception of Matty White, don't think he's much good... I think the bigger problem with channel 7 is their questionable commitment with the AFL as well. Their coverage isn't much chop either. Cheers for watching though.

  • Lol classic !!!

    No boot,

    No rear wing......

That's the way i like my motor racing

  • @4rsnduction Haha yeah, it was bizarre but it was only done to keep Tony on the lead lap IIRC. Crazy decision from the Castrol team. Cheers :)

  • That sure was a crazy accident! Great upload

  • @AMFForumvideo Cheers :)

  • @dazza027 Diffey was only 27 at the time and was pit reporter for the 2011 Bathurst and Gold Coast races where Fox Sports Group US brought a four-man commentary crew trackside for the races (Mike Joy and Darrell Waltrip, both over 60, were in the booth and received compliments from Aussies for their call).
