Prospero regains his Dukedom, Caliban repents, Ariel calms the Tempest... and on the long trip home, Prospero nods off for a bit of a nap.
"Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits, and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd tow'rs, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep."
-William Shakespeare (The Tempest Act 4, scene 1, 148158)
Book 24: Thirty-Six Plays
This is a thick, printed volume of plays dated 1623. All thirty-six plays are there save one - the first. Nineteen pages are left blank for its inclusion. It is called The Tempest. The folio collection is modestly bound in dull green linen with cardboard covers and the author's initials are embossed in gold on the cover... W.S.
-Prospero's Books (1991 Peter Greenaway)
Peter Greenaway is an amazing filmmaker, and will likely be realized as one of the most important artists of the 20th century and beyond. His visual style is groundbreaking, and layers all artistic modes into an expression that denies simple narrative.
This is my small attempt to edit video in a similar style, using some short clips from Greenaway's films as well as some of my own. The music is me with some samples from Prospero's Books.
It's simply a dream narrative, a wrestless subconscious, a churning of impressions which mean nothing at all.

Is it me or is this simply Prospero's 'wet dream' ... made manifest, beyond the reach of any Caliban ... Should the Duke of Naples read of this, my fate like a mighty book twould thus be tossed, as a spear shakes in a tempest. Great clip - and decent quality ... Must get a copy of this DVD

Thou strokst me and made much of me... ...and then I loved thee... Cursed be I that did so...
