  • @lakshmimittal lost yew, lost oak, lost birch, lost willow.

  • @BritishBroom i believe benn was including the guardian in that category. what makes you think he wasn't?

  • tony blair continued the privatization started by thatcher. labor turned out to be a fraud. the industrial military complex runs the country.

read carol quigly's book hope and tragedy.

  • Love the cha-cha version of The Internationale. :) 5*****

I'm a Yank, but I love listening to Mr. Benn speak. He always makes so much sense ... and he's sharp and witty to boot:

8:10 "There are some socialists in the Labour Party ... just as there are some Christians in the churches." LOL!

  • Foot's lost me

  • The News media have a responsibility to report news in a factual and objective way and to label editorial comment as opinion. This is what I believe the Guardian does and what the BBC was famous for in days gone by.

Unfortunately what we see nowadays - largely thanks to the influence of Rupert Murdoch - is a blurring of the lines between news and opinion, to the extent that people cannot tell the difference between fact and subjective opinion.

  • "The media play a part by controlling what you think", according to Benn. Well, I don't doubt that is partly true, but then, doesn't the Guardian do this, too?
