I am a huge Sesame Street fan... that does not think it should be government funded. PBS, and Sesame Workshop, who makes Sesame Street both could be fine without the funding. The government only pays 15% of PBS's budget, Sesame Workshop, an even smaller 5%. They could easily be able to get more donations. Sesame Workshop actually uses the profits from merchandise, in addition to donations, to help fund the show. With just a little more fundraising, both could keep going without taxpayer money.
