Yeah but when you're hunting you want something left of the animal...
which is why you wouldn't use a .50 cal
for hunting you want a large caliber round but relatively little muzzle energy/fps
if you just want to shred anything that gets hit...use a .50 cal

lol it doesnt have half the guts of a 50 bmg past 150 yards, but let me guess, your not that great of a shot, so shooting at animals past 150 yards sounds stupid to you,

50 cal's are so overated
-
they both have their place. in hunting i'd have to agree. military applications, not so much
-
how about range lol

Do your reserach man
500 Nitro Express 570 grain bullet- 5,860 ft-lbs.
.50 BMG 800 grain bullet- 14,895 ft lbs.

The .500 Nitro is a far more useful cartridge than the .50 Big Meaningless Gun.

HUH? If you are speaking of the 50 caliber Browning machine gun round, the 500 nitro is a pipqueak in comaparison of muzzle energy, now is you arer talking of bullet diamiter they are the same size. Do you know much about firearms.
